APPOINTMENT OF NEW HEADS OF MISSION OF MALAYSIA
 
Ten new Heads of Mission of Malaysia received their Letters of Credence from His Majesty The Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Sultan Muhammad V, in a ceremony held at Istana Negara on Thursday, 5 July 2018. The Ceremony was also attended by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, YB Dato’ Saifuddin Abdullah. The new Heads of Mission are:
 
Dr. Azfar Mohamad Mustafar
Ambassador-designate of Malaysia to the French Republic
 
Dr. Azfar Mohamad Mustafar started his service as Administration and Diplomatic Officer in 1996. He served as Assistant Director at National Security Council, Prime Minister’s Department from 1999 until 2000 and joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 2001. He was the Director General of the Department of Maritime Affairs since 2015 prior to his appointment as Ambassador of Malaysia to the French Republic.
 
He previously served as the Deputy Director General of the Department of Maritime Affairs from year 2011 until 2015, Principal Assistant Secretary (Federal & Maritime Affairs) from 2007 until 2008 and Principal Assistant Secretary (Research, Treaty & International Law) from 2008 until 2009. Dr. Azfar had also served as Assistant Secretary in the Strategic Planning Division in 2003.
 
Mr. Tan Yang Thai
High Commissioner-designate of Malaysia to the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka
 
Mr. Tan Yang Thai started his service as Administration and Diplomatic Officer at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1995. He was the Undersecretary of South Asia and Central Asia Division since early 2017 prior to his appointment as High Commissioner of Malaysia to the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka.
 
He previously served as the Consul General of Malaysia in Shanghai, People’s Republic of China from 2014 until 2017 and Minister Counsellor at the Embassy of Malaysia in Moscow, Russian Federation from 2011 until 2014. Mr. Tan was the Undersecretary of Cambodia, Lao PDR, Myanmar & Vietnam (CLMV) & Oceania Division from 2010 until 2011, and Principal Assistant Secretary in East Asia Division from 2007 until 2010. He also served as Second Secretary at the Embassy of Malaysia in Tashkent, Uzbekistan from 1999 until 2002.
 
Mr. Tan had also served as Assistant Secretary in the Development Division from 1997 until 1999 and in the South East Asia Division from 1995 until 1997.
 
Dato’ Roslan Tan Sri Abdul Rahman
Ambassador-designate of Malaysia to the Republic of Cuba
 
Dato’ Roslan Tan Sri Abdul Rahman joined the Malaysian Public Service as Administration and Diplomatic Officer in 1995. He was the Ambassador of Malaysia to Azerbaijan prior to his appointment as Ambassador of Malaysia to the Republic of Cuba.
 
He previously served as Consul General of Malaysia in Guangzhou, People’s Republic of China from 2007 until 2010, Counsellor at the Embassy of Malaysia in Bangkok, Thailand from 2005 until 2007, and Second Secretary to the Permanent Mission of Malaysia to the United Nations in New York, United States of America from 1999 until 2002.
 
Dato’ Roslan had also served as Principal Assistant Secretary in South East Asia Division from 2004 until 2005, Assistant Secretary in the Southeast Asia and Pacific Division from 2003 until 2004, and Assistant Secretary in the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation Division from 2002 until 2003.
 
 
Ambassador Muzafar Shah Mustafa
Ambassador-designate of Malaysia to Mexico
 
Ambassador Muzafar Shah Mustafa started his service as Administration and Diplomatic Officer at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1995. He was the Ambassador of Malaysia to Venezuela prior to his appointment as Ambassador of Malaysia to Mexico.
 
He previously served as Counsellor at the Embassy of Malaysia in Berlin, Federal Republic of Germany from 2007 until 2011 and Second Secretary at the Embassy of Malaysia in Baghdad, Iraq from 1999 until 2003.
 
Ambassador Muzafar Shah had also served as Principal Assistant Secretary in the Protocol Department from 2004 until 2007 and Principal Assistant Secretary in West Asia Division from 2003 until 2004.
 
Mr. Hendy Assan
Ambassador-designate of Malaysia to the Republic of Uzbekistan
 
Mr. Hendy Assan started his service as Administration and Diplomatic Officer at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1995. He was the Undersecretary of East Asia Division since early 2018 prior to his appointment as Ambassador of Malaysia to the Republic of Uzbekistan.
 
He previously served as Minister Counsellor at the Embassy of Malaysia in Tokyo, Japan from 2014 until 2017 and Consul General of Malaysia in Shanghai, People’s Republic of China from 2010 until 2014.
 
Mr. Hendy had also served as Assistant Secretary in Americas Division from 1995 until 1999 and Assistant Director of ASEAN from 1995 until 1997.
 
 
 
Dato’ Raja Reza Raja Zaib Shah
Ambassador-designate of Malaysia to Ukraine
 
Dato’ Raja Reza Raja Zaib joined the Malaysian Public Service as Administration and Diplomatic Officer in 1996. He was the Undersecretary of West Asia Division since 2017 prior to his appointment as Ambassador of Malaysia to Ukraine.
 
He previously served as the Deputy Permanent Representative of Malaysia to the United Nations in New York, United States of America from 2013 until 2017, Counsellor at the Embassy of Malaysia in Jakarta, Indonesia from 2007 until 2011, and Second Secretary at the Permanent Mission of Malaysia to the United Nations in Geneva, Switzerland from 2000 until 2003.
 
Dato’ Raja Reza had also served as Principal Assistant Secretary (Multilateral Affairs) from 2004 until 2007 and Assistant Secretary (Policy Planning) from 1997 until 1999.
 
Ms. Sarimah Akbar
Ambassador-designate of Malaysia to the Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste
 
Ms. Sarimah Akbar started her service as Administration and Diplomatic Officer at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1996. She was the Undersecretary of Cambodia, Lao PDR, Myanmar & Vietnam (CLMV) & Oceania Division since 2017 prior to her appointment as Ambassador of Malaysia to the Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste.
 
She previously served as Counsellor at the High Commission of Malaysia in London, United Kingdom from 2009 until 2012 and Second Secretary at the Embassy of Malaysia in Tokyo, Japan from 1999 until 2003.
 
Ms. Sarimah had also served as Assistant Secretary in South East Asia Division from 2003 until 2004, East Asia Division from 1997 until 1999 and Finance Division from 1996 until 1997.
 
 
Dato’ Mohammad Ali Selamat
Ambassador-designate of Malaysia to Kuwait
 
Dato’ Mohammad Ali Selamat started his service as Administration and Diplomatic Officer at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1996. He was the Consul General of Malaysia in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia since 2015 prior to his appointment as Ambassador of Malaysia to Kuwait.
 
He previously served as the Director (Economy) at The Malaysian Friendship and Trade Centre in Taipei, Taiwan from 2011 until 2015, Principal Assistant Secretary in West Asia Division from 2006 until 2008, First Secretary at the Embassy of Malaysia in Zagreb, Croatia from 2003 until 2006, and Second Secretary at the Embassy of Malaysia in Rabat, Kingdom of Morocco.
 
Dato’ Mohammad Ali had also served as Assistant Secretary in Development Division from 1998 until 2000 and in Protocol Department from 1996 until 1998.
 
Mr. Mohamad Razdan Jamil
Ambassador-designate of Malaysia to the Republic of Sudan
 
Mr. Mohamad Razdan Jamil started his service as Administration and Diplomatic Officer at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1996. He was the Deputy Head of Mission at the Embassy of Malaysia in Paris, French Republic since 2016 prior to his appointment as Ambassador of Malaysia to the Republic of Sudan.
 
He previously served as the Deputy Permanent Representative of Malaysia to ASEAN in Jakarta, Indonesia from 2013 until 2016, Minister Counsellor at the Embassy of Malaysia at The Hague, Netherlands from 2008 until 2011, and First Secretary at the Embassy of Malaysia in Berlin, German Federal Republic.
 
Mr. Mohamad Razdan had also served as the Special Officer to the Foreign Minister from 2006 until 2008 and Assistant Secretary (Economy) from 1996 until 2001.
 
 
Mr. Ilham Tuah Illias
High Commissioner-designate of Malaysia to the Republic of Fiji
 
Mr. Ilham Tuah Illias started his service as Administration and Diplomatic Officer at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1998. He was the Undersecretary of Human Resource Management Division since 2016 prior to his appointment as High Commissioner of Malaysia to the Republic of Fiji.
 
He previously served as the Deputy Chief of Protocol in the Protocol and Consular Department from 2015 until 2016, Counsellor at the High Commission of Malaysia in Pretoria, South Africa from 2009 until 2012 and Second Secretary at the High Commission of Malaysia in Ottawa, Canada from 2001 until 2004.
 
Mr. Ilham Tuah had also served as Assistant Secretary in Africa Division from 2005 until 2008 and Assistant Director of ASEAN from 2004 until 2005.
